Learn to Speedskate Classes

June-August Programs

Whether you are a beginning skater or are transitioning from hockey, figure or inline skating, these classes are taught by experienced coaches and are designed to teach you the proper form and techniques of short-track speed skating. For ages 5 to adult.

1) Learn to Speedskate Clinics

Fee: $150 for all 7 June classes, $125 for 5 classes and $35 drop-in fee for each class.  Fees are payable in cash or by check to "Potomac Speedskating Club".  Meet on the second floor of the Kettler Capitals Iceplex dressed in indoor running gear to register and begin your dryland training prior to class.  Bring your signed waiver to registration on your first class date.

Download Learn to Speedskate waiver here  If you are registering for a future class or classes, complete and mail the waiver and indicate your class date(s) to Potomac Speedskating Club, 4201 Wilson Blvd. Suite 110-437, Arlington, VA 22203.  Late registrants may bring waiver and payment with you to your first class.

2) Learn to Speedskate Classes

Cabin John Ice Rink, Rockville, MD.
Session II   Saturday, May 22-Saturday, June 26 (no class May 29)
Spots still available in Session II for the remaining dates in June!
Classes will be held on the Studio Rink on the far side of the NHL rink to your right as you enter the rink.

Arrive by 7:00 am (earlier for first class.) Depending on number of registrants, you may be divided into groups by age/prior experience:
Group A: On ice instruction 7:15-7:45 am Break 7:45-8:15 am Dryland (off-ice training outside) 8:15-8:45 am
Group B: Break/Skate Fitting 7:00-7:45 am On ice instruction 7:45-8:15 am Dryland (off-ice traininmg outside) 8:15-8:45 am

Fee: $125 per Session
Session II: Payable in cash or by check to "Potomac Speedskating Club" at sign-in
Meet in lobby.

3) Wheaton Ice Arena Mini-Camps

Wheaton Ice Arena, Wheaton, MD
Session II   July 12-16  10:30-11:30 am (on-ice instruction) 11:30-12:15 pm dryland training outdoors
Session III   August 2-6  9:30-10:30 am (ice) 10:30-11:15 dryland (except 8/4 8:45-9:45 on-ice instruction 9:45-10:30 am dryland training outdoors)

Fee: $195 per Session; $25 off 2nd or for multiple skaters from the same family.
