Head Coach Simon Cho
Simon Cho joined the Potomac Speedskating Club as head coach in May 2016, after a long career as one of the world’s top skaters. He has proven to be a patient and dedicated coach, and our skaters have made great gains under his leadership. He led Potomac to eight consecutive national club championships, from 2017 to 2026!
Coach Simon grew up skating at the ice rinks at Wheaton and Cabin John, where our team now practices, and went on to skate for the U.S. National Team. He won a bronze medal in the men’s relay at the Vancouver Olympics in 2010. The following year, he became the World Champion in the 500 meter in Sheffield, England. In 2012, he was the U.S. National Champion Overall.

Assistant Coach Jonathan So

Jonathan So joined PSC as assistant coach in April 2026. As a multi-year member of the U.S. Short Track National Team, he represented Team USA across several seasons: 2018-19, 2022-2026, competing at the ISU World Tour (previously World Cups) and World Championships. He earned early success as Junior National Champion (2014), and represented the U.S. at Junior World Championships and the Winter Youth Olympics (2020, relay gold medalist). Coach Jonathan grew up in Fairfax and is excited to share his experience and passion for speedskating with the next generation of skaters.
